I had a great experience with my host family. They were so kind and well-educated. When I went to their home and was so excited thinking “Who are they?” “What is their home like?” “How do they live?” “How many people are living in their home?” Lots of other questions were in my mind but when I went there I got the answer to every question.
They took me shopping and I bought the items that I needed. They showed me the American clothes which had the classic style. I had heard that American children do not respect each other and do not listen to their parents and lots of other things. I found this to be wrong, but something which I heard about them was right as they live in a small family. Everyone works and earns for him/her self. I also shared my culture with them and we discussed our culture and the most important thing which I think every American wants to know about is our political situation, the existence of the American army in Afghanistan and also a discussion about world history.
As I spent one day with them, I found American people are very friendly and kind. They respect each other and also respect other nations with their different religions and cultures. For example when we were having dinner in their home, they asked me if we pray before or after a meal. I said that after we eat we thank God for every thing which He has prepared for us. After we finished eating they all sat silent and asked me to say my prayer. I really liked and appreciated this kindness from them.
Finally, I found American families to be very honest and kind - completely different from what I was taught about Americans before I met them.
