I liked Nazareth since the first day I came to an orientation session for graduate students. Before Nazareth, I used to work as a Fulbright visiting teacher at University Of Rochester for two years. During those two years, I always wanted to apply for Master’s in Science Of Education (International TESOL). Unfortunately, University Of Rochester didn’t have that program, I looked online and found out that Nazareth College has a lot of different programs in Education, and they have what I exactly wanted.
I really enjoy being a graduate student at Nazareth College, I enjoy all the free classes and interesting events that they have at Naz, especially the Yoga classes at the chapel. Through Nazareth, I had the chance to participate for so many interesting and really cool events. I had the opportunity to go to see the Dalai Lama and listen to his speech in a concert at University of Syracuse. I also had the chance to participate in one of the biggest interfaith events at Saint John Fisher College, and that was through the Spiritualty Center at Nazareth too.
This year, I was accepted to attend a training and a conference in Global Leadership at the United Nations, I have represented my country (Libya) and Nazareth College at The United Nations for a week. In that conference, I had the opportunity to meet a lot of people from so many different countries around the world, such as Ban Ki-moon, the eighth and current Secretary-General of the United Nations and Gligor Tashkovich, Minister of Foreign Investments in Macedonia (pictured below) . I also had the chance to give a short speech which was an honor to me. I have been trained in Global negotiations and mediations, and how global leaders do negotiations between two or three countries where there’s any kind of conflicts.
At the end of the conference, I submitted a presentation which was my short project for the conference, it was about what I learned in the conference, and then I had my certificate.
I enjoy working at Nazareth as a graduate assistant at the spiritualty center, where I can learn more about other people’s religion, beliefs and non-beliefs. I like organizing religious events for students at Nazareth and enjoy having a conversation with them too. I also like the campus at Naz, it’s really nice over the spring and the summer, and that’s why I really enjoy having a walk or go for a run around the campus.
I think I’m a happy and lucky person just because I’m a graduate student at Nazareth College, I already have recommended Nazareth College to all of my friends back home and told them how great opportunity it is to be a student here, I will also help them in applying for some graduate programs in the near future. I’m so grateful and thankful to be in this community and Educational environment with all of those nice and kind people.
