Due to our delays and rescheduling of flights, we unfortunately did not make it into Budapest and to our apartments until about 5pm tonight. The apartments for the most part are very nice and accommodating! After we quickly freshened up, we met Dr. Campbell's friend, Terrance, and walked around the area. We were able to see many cool sights before dinner, including the river Danube, St. Stephens Basilica, and observe the many unique elements of this city.
I am in awe of the sights and feeling of this city. Seeing the river at night with the bridges and buildings lit up was breathtaking. Then we made our way to the restaurant, Apostolok, for our first official dinner as a group! The restaurant was beautiful with stain glass windows and intricate paintings. Each booth had its own apostle and had a painting to match. It was very unique and beautiful, and the food to match. I tried the wiener schnitzel and it was incredible.
From our first walk to our first meal, I am more than excited to explore more of this city and more of this country. Tomorrow we plan to attend a mass at St. Stephen's Basilica and then we will be on our way to Vesprem to meet our host families!
Off for a good night's sleep!
