Today started off like any other day, but then to our surprise it became a day to remember! Nicole, Rachel, Darrin and I attended our last day at camp while the others went off to there last day at Holley Bank. At camp we ended up getting stuck helping transport the students luggage, but then turned out to be a reward. After transporting the luggage a small group of us (Nicole, Rachel, myself and a few other ambassadors) decided to grab a brew (coffee) from a local Starbucks. We were given permission, but instructed to be back by a certain time for lunch.
This turned into an adventure! When walking to Starbucks we noticed an abundance of police men decked out and asked the ambassadors what the reason was for and they responded that the queen was supposed to be stoping in town for the day. Well... she was actually stopping by in the next 20 minutes!!!
We somehow managed to find a front row spot and was right there in the action of it. After a short wait there she was... Literally right in front of us!
It was unbelievable and a moment we will all cherish.
When walking back to the camp we were grinning from ear to ear and couldn't wait to tell everyone. The English natives we completely jealous "I have lived here for 22 years and have yet to see the queen, you guys have been here for two weeks and see her!" we heard more then once.
It must have been our lucky day because we also bumped into a few members of the Chinese fencing Olympic team and got a photo with them.
To say the least, today made our trip! We were so excited to share our day with everyone (even though many did not believe us but we have the photos to prove it).
We are now preparing a quick dinner and getting ready for a night out with a few ambassadors we have befriended and can't wait for the rest of the girls to meet them! We are tentatively going to karaoke which should be a great time with amazing people, then off to York for the majority of the day tomorrow.
Cheers!
