We met Corinne's old friend Prabha today. She invited us into her home and served us exotic fruits and snacks. We looked at her daughter's engagement and wedding album for about an hour. It was a great way to learn about the Indian culture. This was a relevant experience to look at the book. I have been reading about PhotoTherapy and in that the photo album helped us to connect two cultures and facilitated conversation.
Prabha took us on a tour to visit some local temples. The Shiva Temple was by far the most enthralling. We were allowed to take part in the rituals of the temples such as eating blessed foods and putting ashes and pigment on our foreheads. I was even given jasmine to wear in my hair. In the evening they lit the sides of temples up with tons of miniature candles. It was a very moving place to be and one could feel how sacred it was.
We have also stayed at St. Alphonsa's pilgrimage site where we were met with grace by Sister Florence and were taught that the following truth: Suffering makes you holy.
