The trip to Hungary was an amazing experience that I will never forget. I learned about and experienced so much while I was there and am so thankful that I had this opportunity. I'm going to reminisce a bit and discuss some of the highlights from the trip and the things that stand out to me the most. To start out, I absolutely loved the homestay with my hosts. The were incredibly gracious and welcoming. I saw Hungarian hospitality first hand and got to experience how they live every day. I formed friendships with many of the host students and am even going to have the opportunity to see my host this summer, as well as two of the other hosts who will be attending Nazareth next year. Another thing that stands out to me is the food, which we ate a LOT of! I tried so many new dishes, both homemade and from traditional Hungarian restaurants, as well as some homemade bacon roasted over a fire one night at the homestay (I was apprehensive at first but it ended up being delicious). Another thing that I noticed while at the homestay was the pride that many Hungarians seem to show for their country. While at my homestay, my host played me the national anthem and the national song, and told me all about the history. She really seemed to love and appreciate where she had come from and I could see how much her culture and homeland meant to her. A final thing that stands out was the amazing art and architecture that Hungary is filled with. Their buildings are absolutely breathtaking and are dramatically lit, so the cities truly come to life at night. Hungary's beauty never ceased to amaze me and I am so truly grateful for this incredible opportunity. This trip to Hungary is one that I will never forget!
