Volunteers are needed to assist people who wish to become a citizen of the United States in filling out their application for naturalization (N-400). Our volunteers would help with intake, which consists of filling out CFC documentation as well as screening the applicant’s eligibility, helping the applicant fill out the N-400 form by walking them through step by step each and every question in order to make sure that the application is filled out exactly as it needs to be for it to pass the review process done by the folks over at immigration, and after the application is reviewed by one of our immigration staff specialists our volunteers will help package it in a addressed envelope, and will give guidance on what other resources are here in Rochester, and what the applicant will need to do to get ready for his/her immigration interview.
Volunteers should plan to be serving for about 2 and a half hours. Volunteers will be trained on how to fill out the application, who is eligible to fill it out, the immigration laws that govern this activity, and will be made familiar with the process of becoming a citizen.
The workshops currently happen once a month on the last Thursday of each month, starting at 5:30 pm. They are located here at Catholic Family Center, although could possibly occur at other locations in the future.
