Managing Autism Together
Today (MATT) is a 501©3 volunteer not-for-profit organization focused on
supporting parents, children, and families affected by Autism.
My wife and I founded Managing Autism Together Today (MATT) in 2010 and named
the organization after our son, Matthew, who was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum
Disorder. We discovered, first-hand, the difficulties families face in our
community after learning that their child has a disorder that has no known
cause and no known cure.
Our organization's mission is to make it easier for families to locate, obtain,
and use the community resources that are available to their special needs
children in the Greater Rochester, New York area, so that these children can
live happy, healthy, and productive lives.
On Saturday, April 20, 2013, Managing Autism Together Today (MATT) will be hosting our 2nd Annual Autism Spectrum Connection Fair at the Unity Health System Total Sports Experience, 880 Elmgrove Road, Rochester, NY 14624 from 9am to 1pm.
This will be a free community
event that will connect parents who have children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
(ASD) with the agencies, businesses, and organizations in the Greater
Rochester, New York area that provide Autism services, support, and
information. The Autism Spectrum Connection Fair will be an informative and
fun-filled family day, where parents/guardians will have an opportunity to come
face to face with representatives from a variety of wonderful businesses and
organizations in the Greater Rochester, NY area that provide services and
support to those affected by Autism. In addition, this event will be
opportunity for children to come have fun and to be entertained. MATT will
provide bounce houses and other activities for children of all ages that attend
with their parents to enjoy.
We will have prize raffles and silent auctions with the donated goods and
services we receive from the community families and businesses. The proceeds
from these raffles and auctions will allow our organization the ability to
provide this family community service event with no cost to those attending.
MATT will need volunteers to help make this Annual Autism Spectrum Connection Fair successful. Volunteers responsibilities:
Assist with greeting families and providing our guests with bags to collect information from the participating organizations.
Assist with the three inflatables by making sure children’s shoes are off and allowing only a limited number of guests at a time.
Assist with games and other children’s activities.
Assist with selling Raffle tickets for our prizes, including a $1000 Travel voucher, courtesy of Carpe Diem Travel, an iPad 4, a 32” LED HDTV, and much more…
If you are interested in volunteering or you have questions about the volunteer opportunities for this event please call or email us. There is also more information about MATT and our events available on our website, www.managingautism.org.
