The Center for Civic Engagement is proud to announce that Nazareth College joins the Clinton Global Initiative University Network (GCI U). Building on the successful model of the Clinton Global Initiative, which brings together world leaders to take action on global challenges, President Clinton launched the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) to engage the next generation of leaders on college campuses around the world.
Make a Difference in One of Five Focus Areas
Education, Environment and Climate Change, Peace and Human Rights, Poverty Alleviation, and Public Health.
This Fall, Nazareth Students have the opportunity to submit project applications (called a Commitment to Action) to CGI U. If your project is selected, you will travel to the CGI U Spring Training (hosted by President Bill Clinton and Chelsea Clinton), further develop your project, then put your planning into action. Join a thousand college students and leaders from around the world at the CGI U training at Arizona State University from March 21-24, 2014. Travel scholarships are available. Funding for your projects may also be available.
In collaboration with faculty and staff members the Center for Civic Engagement is hosting information sessions and workshops. These sessions and workshops will give you an overview of the Commitment to Action and application process and provide critical knowledge and skills such as effective Commitment development, identifying an advisor for your project, building community partnerships, the essential qualities of successful projects, SMART goal setting, how to assess your project, and more.
To get started, sign up for an information session by replying to this email or contact me through the Center for Civic Engagement for more information.
