On Tuesday night, January 21st the Interlibrary Loan department logged in the 400,000th request submitted into the ILLiad software!
Installed in 1999 to provide Nazareth clientele with a web-based interlibrary loan submission, tracking & receiving system ILLiad was an instant success. ILL borrowing increased a staggering 92% to hit 6,200 borrowing requests submitted through the new system. It took an average 7 days to receive books and articles through Interlibrary loan.
Fast forward 15 years and Interlibrary Loan processes an average 34,000 requests per year. It takes around 48 hours to receive an article and 5 days to receive a loan from another library. If you use our Document Delivery service for items held in the Naz Collection, we deliver materials within an estimated 13 hours from the time you submit your request.
The ILL Staff would like to thank all of our past and present ILL Student Assistants, who helped process the 400,000 requests for multitudes of researchers at Nazareth and those at other institutions around the world! Happy 400,000!!
