On Friday, some students chose to go to Stonehenge and Winsdor Palace.

Brian Stevens comments: "it was as if the mysterious forces that haunt the site knew we were coming and smiled on us...the rain gave way to the blue skies and the sun illuminated the stones' beauty and wonder. I now understand what has drawn our interests for thousands of years. "

Rachel Biddle comments: " Stonehenge looked just as it had in photographs I've seen. The mystery of the stones is quite eerie, but uniquely beautiful."

Savoy Theatre and Hotel

Andrea Reece and Joelle Lachance made a quick stop at the Savoy on Friday evening.

The Savoy Hotel is known for being one of the most beautiful hotels, and a plethora of movie stars, musicians, presidents, and other famous individuals have stayed there.

We walked into the lobby; it is completely breathtaking. There is also a small museum inside with old advertisements and pictures throughout history. What's more, there are a series of pictures with accompanying autographs on the wall of some of the stars who visited, including Judy Garland, John Wayne, and Bing Crosby.

Seeing the Savoy Theatre was also pretty special, as this is the location of many Gilbert and Sullivan operetta premieres. Currently, play with Danny DeVito is playing.

British Museum of Popular Music

Two students went to the British Museum of Popular Music on Friday afternoon. The museum is located in a unique building called the O2 Bubble. The Bubble is almost like a mall, except for the fact that it is a huge dome with what appears to be a canvas ceiling....like a big tent.

The museum was incredible, tracing British pop  music from the 1940s (beginning with jazz and swing) and ending with today's most popular British artists. To name some highlights of the exhibits:

One highlight of the visit was the interactive dance booth that allows visitors to follow choreography to well known dances and watch it playback. Andrea tried Vogue by Madonna and Joelle tried a rock-a-billy style dance. Let's just say that the videos will come back to haunt us someday. ;)
